The Law of Karma – Story told by Hit Premanand Ji Maharaj

Hello friends, today’s topic of discussion is the Law of Karma. Let me share with you a thought-provoking story narrated by the revered Saint Hitpremanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj.

Maharaj Ji lives in Vrindavan and is renowned for his deep wisdom and spiritual insights, he wholeheartedly embraced the practice of Nam Japa โ€“ the continuous chanting of the holy name โ€“ as a powerful path for both worldly and spiritual upliftment.

The story begins with two friends, Suresh and Mahesh, who migrated from their village to a city in search of a better livelihood. Both were hardworking and intelligent, and they quickly found jobs, excelling in their respective positions. As time passed, they decided to establish their own business, which began to thrive and grow rapidly.

However, amidst their success, Suresh became consumed by greed. He thought, “I am earning substantial profits each month, but due to my partnership with Mahesh, I have to share these profits with him. If somehow I could remove Mahesh from the picture, I could keep all the profits for myself.” So, he hatched a malicious plan and poisoned Mahesh. After Mahesh died, Suresh disposed of his body secretly and spread the false news that Mahesh had renounced everything to become an ascetic, and his whereabouts were unknown.

Time went on, and Suresh’s wealth and success continued to grow. He got married and had a son. Suresh provided his son with all the luxuries and opportunities one could dream of. The young boy went abroad for higher studies, and everything seemed to be going well. However, fate had its own plan.

One fateful day, Suresh received the heart-wrenching news that his beloved son was battling a severe illness โ€“ cancer. Without a moment’s hesitation, he rushed to his son’s side in a foreign land, determined to provide every possible support for his recovery. Suresh spared no expense, utilizing his vast wealth and resources to ensure the best medical treatment for his son.

However, despite the world-class medical care and unwavering efforts, the disease seemed to take an unyielding hold on his son’s fragile body. As each day passed, Suresh could see his son’s strength diminishing, and hope began to wane.

One particular day, Suresh found himself sitting quietly by his son’s hospital bed. The room was filled with an aura of grief and desperation. He held his son’s frail hand in his, feeling the fragility of life within his grasp. It was a moment of profound sadness, where a father’s love and helplessness merged into a profound emotional storm.

As Suresh sat there, engrossed in his thoughts and prayers, he felt an inexplicable energy in the air. It was as if an unseen presence enveloped him and his son. In that moment of profound vulnerability, something extraordinary happened.

Suresh’s son grasped his father’s hand tightly, and an eerie transformation swept over him. His once calm eyes turned red, and his voice assumed an unfamiliar tone as if some mysterious force had taken hold of him.

In a trance-like state, the son spoke with a haunting familiarity, “Suresh, do you recognize me? I am your old friend Mahesh. You betrayed me, snatched away my life, and left my family in anguish, unaware of my fate. You cunningly seized all that was rightfully mine, but now witness the divine play of destiny. I have returned, reincarnated as your own son, bearing the weight of my past life’s torment. And now, as I depart from this world, I shall ensure that all your ill-gotten wealth departs with me.”

With these chilling words, an unsettling laughter escaped his lips, echoing through the hospital room. The medical devices blared alarms, indicating the departure of life.

Doctors rushed in, attempting to revive the young soul, but alas, their efforts were in vain. Suresh’s son had passed away, leaving behind a shattered father, burdened by the repercussions of his dark past.

At that moment, Suresh reaped the consequences of his past actions. The law of Karma played out its unfathomable intricacies, demonstrating that our current situations are reflections of our previous deeds. The story served as a stark reminder that we should be mindful of our thoughts and actions, for they shape our future.

Hitpremanand Ji Maharaj used this story to emphasize the importance of performing good deeds and surrendering the outcomes to the divine. He urged his listeners to break free from the cycle of Karma by leading a righteous life and dedicating the results of their actions to the Lord.
